9. 1915/18 Indian 8-valve Board-Track Racer.
This is 1 of 4 (Hensley, Barber, Statnekov, & Dennie) complete 8-valve
Indian racers in existence. This is the only known surviving example of
an Indian-8 in its original keystone or "Marion" factory
racing frame. This machine was a prototype for the famous Marion framed,
side-valve "Daytona" that debuted in 1919. Additionally, there are two
8-valve Indian motors in existence (Wright and Pinachio). Everything else
is either made up from single cylinder, Indian 4-valve motor parts or reproduction
cylinders and heads. This machine was the recipient of the Red Wolverton
Award at the April, 1996 Antique Motorcycle Club of America National Meet, Oley,
Pennsylvania.
