In 1928, H-D catalogued a new model for sale to the public. The new
model was basically their old standby "J" model with a slightly detuned
version of their record-setting "FH" racing engine. The new street
version 2-cam was designated as the "JDH" or "JH" model in 74 cubic inch
and 61 cubic inch displacements, respectively. This is a copy of the 1928 factory announcement for the street version 2-cam. The caption reads: The works! Open faced view of "what makes 'er gallop." Here you see how the 2-cams fit in the gear train and how the roller mounted lifters act directly on the lobes of the cams. No lost motion here. Everything designed and built for highest efficiency. Want one, boys? I'll say you do---who wouldn't?. |
