According to Jim Davis, all of the photos in this
section were taken at the 100-mile National Championship
race held in 1923 at the Kansas City board track.
The rider with the number 4 plate is Davis; number 2 is Ralph Hepburn; and number 7 is the eventual winner, Johnny Branson. With Davis helping him by riding "interference," Branson won the race and the National Championship. |
