Designed by Charles B. Franklin,  the Indian  "Daytona"  race motor features forged steel flywheels and special cylinders.

The "exposed" (uncovered) valve springs and the cylinder fins which "wrap" around the exhaust ports are external features that distinguish the  "Daytona"  motor from its standard Powerplus counterpart.

Note the special shift lever on the transmission,  and the kick-start mechanism which is located on the right side of the machine.
