1915 Excelsior, Big-Valve "X" factory board track racer

This is a 1915 Big-Valve "X" factory board track racer.  Manufactured in Ignaz Schwinn's Chicago factory,  this landmark model debuted in June of 1915 at the 300-mile Boston relay race where it won the race.  This victory inspired both the Indian and Harley-Davidson factories to develop even faster motors with which to compete on the pro circuit.
