1915 Excelsior, Big-Valve "X" factory board track racer

The unique and most important feature of this race motor is its huge,  2-1/8" diameter valves.  In September,  1915, Carl Goudy shattered all existing records for a 300-mile race.  Riding a Big-Valve "X",  Goudy averaged 85.8 mph at the Maywood board track in Chicago;  his nearest competitor was 4 laps behind him at the finish.
